Shuttle Bus Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does your ticketing system work ?

A. We have 4 types of tickets.

      1. Day Pass

      2. 25 ride pass

      3. 10 ride pass

      4. Single ride pass / walk up

1. A Day Pass is $70 on any weekday that we run, and $80 on weekends and public holidays and gives you priority seating on the shuttle bus for every run that you are at the bus stop in time to catch the bus for the day that you buy it for.  There are 11 runs in a day.  The bus runs on schedule every 40mins. We do not sell all of our available seats as day passes. There is a minimum of 6 seats per run available for 25 ride pass holders or walk ups in the below order.

2. 25 ride pass is $250 and gives you 25 individual shuttle runs over a 12 month period.  It is designed for locals or frequent shuttlers who only shuttle a few times with us in a day.  25 ride passes can be shared between friends and family.  You do not book seats on runs and using the 25ride pass is first in line for a shuttle gets to get on the shuttle after the day pass holders.  a 25 ride pass does not guarantee you a shuttle at the exact time you want it.  It is also not designed for large groups to get on the shuttle at the same time, as we might not have 8 spots available on the specific run you want to get on.

3. 10 ride pass is $120. It gives you 10 individual shuttle runs over a 3 month period.  It is designed for locals or frequent shuttlers who only shuttle a few times with us in a day.  10 ride passes can be shared between friends and family.  You do not book seats on runs and using the 10ride pass is first in line for a shuttle gets to get on the shuttle after the day pass holders.  A 10 ride pass does not guarantee you a shuttle at the exact time you want it.  It is also not designed for large groups to get on the shuttle at the same time, as we might not have lots of spots available on the specific run you want to get on.  Once all the 25 and 10 ride pass holders are on the shuttle and there is room, we then allow:

4. Single ride pass/walk up. Cost is $15 pp. This is available where there are spare seats available just before we head up the hill.

We have developed this ticking approach to provide a service to the different needs of riders who want to ride with us.

A:    Search for Opperman Ave, Wright ACT

Q:   What days does the Shuttle Bus run ?

A:    We run every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday except for those days where the MTB trails are exclusively booked or the park is closed due to weather conditions. We also run most public holidays as well as ACT School holidays. We usually put out our schedule 2 months ahead.  You can see our scheduled days at www.dynamicmotivation.com.au/pages/bus-shuttles.   We also run a charter service on other days for 10 – 20 people*. Contact us for details.

A:    The bus meeting point is next to the Café/Bar and Bike Shop near the main Stromlo Carpark.

Q:    What time is the first shuttle and what is the schedule ?

A:     First shuttle is at 9:10am. If we are running 1 bus, it is every 40min until 3:50pm (11 runs), with 2 or more buses, every 20min or sooner.

Q:    What is the check-in process ?

A:    Day Pass

                1.       If you have purchased a day pass, present either your id or receipt for the purchase to the Shuttle Bus Driver.

                2.       The Shuttle Bus Driver will mark you off the roll, and apply your day pass wrist band.  This band identifies you as a day pass holder and you get priority seating on all
                          runs for that day.

         25 or 10 Ride Pass

               1.       If you have purchased a 25 or 10 ride pass but not picked it up, present your receipt to the Shuttle Bus Driver and they will give you the 25 or 10 ride

                         pass.

               2.       Turn up ready to load to leave at the next scheduled run (timetable on website and on site at Stromlo).

               3.       After day pass holders have loaded onto a run, the next preference is given to 25 and 10 ride pass holders in order of who was there first.

Q:     How do I load my bike on the trailer?

A:      You load your bike vertical with its front wheel in the holder, and to secure it on the trailer, put the bungee over the front wheel and cam strap around the pedal.  Our friendly staff will help you with advice on technique when you first load.

Q:     What bike holder system do you use on your trailer?

A:     We use a northshore style hanging system, custom built for us by Shingleback Racks  (https://shinglebackoffroad.com.au/ ).  Tell Andrew we sent you.

Q:    How long is the trip to the top of Mt Stromlo?

A:     The trip is between 12-15minute depending upon how many road cyclists we encounter driving up Mt Stromlo Rd

Q:    Do you still operate when its raining?

A:     Most of the time, yes.  Our trails handle water really well, and after a sustained moderate amount of rain we have HERO DIRT. Nice and grippy.

We don’t operate if riding will damage our trails or if the park has been closed due to weather conditions.  If this is the case, we will contact all those

people booked for the day and offer credit or refund.

Q:    Do you have maps of Stromlo trails

A:     We find the free app for the mobile phone called Trailforks, which is rider updated, excellent and more environmentally friendly than a printed map.
